Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since March of that year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved service.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to create a final set.

He saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
